Casting Call
Real me
wndrwolf

Wander Radio Productions presents our first casting call for an original production. The Production is called “Free Air- Pirate Radio”. It is the story of a couple of college students trying to fix late night radio in Liberal Kansas.

Character Descriptions
Steve Rogers - all American boy, good at sports, music, and science.
Steve 'The Voice' Rogers.   He has just a bit of a rebellious streak,
and that is one of the attractions he has toward Allen.  Backstory is
that his parents are God Fearin' Presbyterians down in Lubbock Texas.
Daddy was pushing him to a sport scholarship, while Mamma was pushin
him toward the Seminary.  Steve had other ideas and swung a
scholarship to Liberal KS Junior college.  He told his parents he was
going weekending down in the Padre' Islands, but hitchhiked to Liberal
instead and enrolled, pointing to a major in Psychiatry.

Audition Lines

Steve:

Chill, son, chill.  It's only a little bit more and we'll be back at the dorm. We just passed Forgan, Oklahoma.

Steve:

You got it right there, son.  My daddy would just a soon shove ice picks in his ears rather than listen to music like that.

Allen Wrench.  Dad's a mechanic and the family generational business
is the hardware store in Baxter Slick, MO.  Baxter Slick is like
Baxter Springs, KS, but not as exciting.   Allen went to college in
Liberal KS to get away from home.  He's bitter and cynical, always
sure the man is wanting to 'stick it to him' and is always looking for
a way to 'stick it to the man first'.  In a staring contest, Allen
would blink first.  In torture, it's a fair bet that Allen would break
the moment the door closed.  Still, he's a loyal friend to Steve, and
against all odds, will stand by his friend when his instincts are
telling him to run away.

Audition Lines

Allen:

40 minutes left to an 8 hour tour?  Dude, do you realize that Gilligan and the castaways got lost in the last 40 minutes?

Allen:

What you're used...  Dude, dude, dude.  What you're used to is either a marching band or a heavenly choir.  What we heard last night was neither marching nor heavenly.

Gudwidtools.  This gent is the enigma.  His real name isn't known
and there are rumors abound.  He works as one of the janitors at the
college that Steve and Allen attend.  He's older than the other two by
about 10 years or so, and tends to give the impression of being
worldly wise and world weary.  There doesn't seem to be anything that
he can't do.  He doesn't say much, and plays his cards very close to
his chest.  for some reason or another, he has sort of adopted Steve
and Allen, and become a 'big brother' figure to the two younger men.
He's rumored to have been married, possibly more than once.  He's also
been rumored to have been in the military, though nobody can get him
to talk about it at all.  His first name is frank or fred or charles,
or henry, or jim... nobody knows, and to make it worse, Good with
Tools will confirm any name given to him.

Audition Lines

Gudwidtools: Which is more than I can say for you, if you don't shut the hell up. (another cough) where are we?

Gudwidtools: Oh.  (sound of a cigarette lighter and the sound of a long drag on something)  Captain America, Steve.  You have the same name as Captain America.

Guy the Pizza Guy

Runs a pizza delivery business…

Audition Lines

PIZZA GUY

Yeah.  Yeah!  I've delivered to you over at the sorority house!  Nice gig you got there.

PIZZA GUY

I wasn't talking to you.  You're still a jerk.  Your friends are good guys, though, so maybe I just have to get to know you better.

Sharona (Female) friend of Gudwidtools likes to help him out when she can. She really doesn’t understand what or how things are happening but she does her best to keep up.

Audition Lines

Sharona

Is Goodie here?

SHARONA

He's still darn good looking, Goodie.  Especially for radio.  And you must be the faithful side-kick.

Giuseppe

Is the night trash collector. Hard working man with a slight Italian accent.

Audition Lines

GIUSEPPE

Yeah, yeah.  Look, I only gots a couple minutes before my shift starts.

GIUSEPPE

Oh man, I can't tell you that.  I can tell you that it wasn't garbage, though.

I'd be happy to audition if you need any womens voices; you'd have a pretty good idea already of my range, I think. And according Chet, I'll be visiting down that way on Yule.
